WELCOME TO THE YEAR 6 CLASS PAGE.
Year 6 is split into 2 classes:
Oak- taught by Mr Bailey
Maple- taught by Mrs Mays
In Year 6 we try to follow 3 basic rules:
Be Ready- have everything you need to learn ready for the day, including your attitude.
Be Respectful- show each other and yourselves respect by being considerate and mature.
Be Responsible- take care of your school, other pupils and property by being kind and setting good examples for others to follow.
Our PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor). Year 6 pupils are expected to keep their kit at school for a half term, and take it home in the holidays to wash.
Every Wednesday the children will be given spelling homework, and additional homework will be set as needed.
Watch this space for more details about the SATs as they get closer, and look at the bottom of the page for links about secondary school places.
Pre SATs Prep
As the SATs draw closer, Year six are taking steps to get the children ready. If you are planning on revising with your child at home our advice is: do a little bit- regularly.
10-20 minutes of revision per day, focusing on the parts of the curriculum that he/she is unsure of, is a great way to boost confidence and keep nerves at bay before the SATs. There are web links below to some fantastic online resources, but revision can be done at school as well as home. The Year 6 teachers will open their doors to any child who wishes to do a little revision at lunch time on the run up to the 14th May. All the resources and expertise of the staff are available to your child, so encourage them to make the most of it.
Finally, missing a test through illness is distressing for parents, children and staff alike, therefore we encourage our parents to be extra vigilant regarding their children's health: plenty of sleep, lots of healthy activity and taking extra care around possible infection sources are the order of the day.
We will update this page with events that will be taking place after the SATs soon, so watch this space.
